The ship hummed as its engines powered Krimsol and Aesthre high above the plane of sin. Aesthre had to set Vengeance on his shoulder leading to the back of the ship because of its size.
“So why couldn’t we take this thing before?” Aesthre asked before Krimsol could say anything.
“It attracts too much attention.” He responded. “You wouldn’t want to have every creature in the area awaiting you when you land now would you?”
Krimsol made a good point. “Tell me about the next artifact.”
“The second artifact is called the Oblivion Gauntlet. It’s the right hand of a pair of gloves from the beginning of time. They’re supposedly able to destroy an entire universe and everything in it, but they have other uses as well.”
Aesthre had heard that name before when he was being raised by the spirit. “Wait, is it part of the same pair that drove a previous chosen insane and killed a few of the elemental champions?”
“It’s most likely. They have a will of their own and are very capable of taking over a user’s mind. But since you’re a blank deity you should be able to tolerate a single glove.”
Just past a mountain Aesthre could see a plain with a huge chasm in its center. Black smoke lingered above and its edges seemed to writhe and flow like it was alive.
“Here it is, the pit. The glove is a long ways down that hole. There’ll be a ledge to land on. It’ll be easy going down, but coming back up will be quite difficult.”
“So we’re going to fly down there in this thing?”
“No, you’re gonna jump.”
“You’re kidding right?”
“If I tried to take this thing down there we’d have to abandon it, and I’d like to keep it a while longer. I’ll be lucky not to lose it just flying over that place.” Aesthre rolled his eyes at the thought of not being worth enough to sacrifice a flying ship for. Ahead of them the cloud of black smoke swirled and churned oddly, then started coming closer.
“Here they come, hold on!” Krimsol shouted as the black cloud came at them head on. Once they got close enough it became obvious that it was a massive flock of birds. They looked like crows, but were much larger with a very long, sharp beak, almost like a horn. The ship pitched up protecting its passengers from getting hit by the creatures as they crashed into its hull. The birds passed and started to wheel around to pursue them, but Krimsol sped up enough to stay ahead of them.
“When I tell you to jump you do so, got it?” He instructed. Aesthre nodded in agreement and prepared to leap off the ship. They came to a quick stop directly over the pit.
“Jump!” Krimsol yelled as Aesthre leapt off down towards the chasm.
This part turned out how I wanted it to. it also explains why he couldn't use the ship before. The next part is gonna be awesome. I chose to end it earlier so the next part would be more connected.

In the game I was thinking maybe you would have to defend the ship from a flock of the birds as they chase you around the mountains before the pit. That'd be cool, but then the next part would be shorter and I'd prefer it to be longer.
