DAJ: 18 Burning Truth
Aesthre stood and stared at the trinket. But I was told I could call his aid
When he sent you in here he meant for you not to return.
Aesthre paused, thinking for a moment.
If youre done here then lets go back to the castle. The petitioners here attack on sight. Krimsol got back in the flying machine. Aesthre stood and pondered the little amulet in his hands. Had the Spirit really left him here? He had always talked about how he and Arolas would rule together. Had he been lied to?
Well? Krimsols voice brought him away from his thoughts. Aesthre pocketed the amulet and jumped into the vehicle. It took off and sped back towards the castle. Aesthre looked at his left arm, the eye on the back of his hand staring back at him, with its strange pupil.
Am I going to become like one of those fiends Aesthre asked.
Krimsol paused a little. No not quite. Your universe is structure differently than mine was. The two
DAJ: 17 Loss of Hope
All who enter here are bound here. He clarified.
You mean even ?
Yes, Aesthre, you are as well. Aesthre looked down at his arm, with the eye on his hand staring back him almost mockingly. Especially since that you have been cursed by the plague. There were warnings on the other gate and in the entrance way.
So theres no way out of here? Aesthre started to panic.
Only through death a pause or he stopped.
Or what? Aesthre almost yelled.
Nothing there is no way out alive.
Aesthre felt there was more than he was letting on. That there was more to this whole story than he was being told. That everything that had happened since he got here was being controlled by something. That it had all been planned before he got here. How could he trust this man he just met who was telling him that he was damned for eternity in this nightmare of a plane?
There has to be a way
DAJ: 16 Sinner
The room became deathly quiet. Aesthre stood in placing looking at the sad lord. Krimsol took a deep breath and collected himself.
Aesthre, we are blessed with eternal life, but cursed with eternal suffering. My people have become monsters, fiends that have lost their sanity and now eternally destroy each other. But regardless of what they have become they are still my responsibility and I will always act for their good.
There was another long silence. Then Aesthre decided to break the quiet. So youre saying even though youre the one who brought this curse upon your world you still feel the obligation to protect it?
Krimsol looked up at Aesthre. Yes. Its been thousands of years since the Grand Recycling and I have spent that whole time contemplating the reasoning behind all of it. I have gone over every detail and every memory that I have and it all leads to my fault. The god of innovation brought doom to his own people and was cursed to
DAJ 15: The Plane of Sin
Well? Arent you going to get up? the old man questioned. Aesthre still lay on the floor from terror by the ogre-like beast. Aesthre scrambled to his feet and brushed himself off.
Aesthre started Sir, I am Aesthre of the chosen and
I already know who you are and why youre here. The man interrupted. You were sent here to gather information from me. He started walking back to a dark and twisted looking throne. Aesthre started to follow, glancing at the two beasts that happened to hiding at each side of the doorway. The man sat down in the throne and looked directly at Aesthre. The old mans armor was nothing like he had ever seen before. It looked almost like metal, but not so, and had signs of the corruption from this world in scattered places. And his face, it was scared and aged, like he had been through rough times and come out alive. There was something else to him too, a sad feeling.
I am Krimsol, the Lord
DAJ 14: Hall of the Lord
The beast leapt as he got off the cliff. Aesthre unlatched and jumped off its back towards the ledge. The shaft of his left hand shot out and snatched onto the edge of the cliff. Aesthre pressed against the wall and hung on just below the ridge. He looked down below to see the beast fall into the darkness with a horrific whine. Then silence. Aesthre turned his attention upwards and through himself back onto the edge.
He looked around to make sure there was nothing else attempting to stop him, but there was nothing. He dashed across the bridge, and glanced off once, but realized its better not to. The bridge ended with some solid ground and lead directly to a large stone door. Aesthre pulled it open with a loud, deep creak and he cautiously stepped in. This room was about what he expected, a dark castle entranceway. It had pillars and a long carpet and everything. He half expected to see guards at each entrance. Just like everything else in this world it had been affected by
DAJ part 13: Hope for Home
The hallway abruptly ended, opening to a large area like the ones Aesthre had seen before. Except now he could see that a long ways off was a gulch and another, larger building. He had a feeling that that is where he wanted to be, and that he would soon be done with this world. Memories of the Haven came into his mind, and he thought of how hed be able to see Arolas again. He didnt even know how long hed been in this world, but he wouldnt be here much longer now. Aesthre started to run, moving past all the trees, not even caring if anything followed him. All he could think about was getting out of here.
As he neared the building he could see that there was a bridge separating the ground he was on apart from the building. The bridge didnt look very stable. His thoughts of hope turned to fear as he realized that there was one of those bull things right near the bridge. He slowed his pace to give him time to think. If he tried to cross with that thing nearby,
DAJ 12: Hallow Ground
Aesthre got to his senses and looked around the room. There was a strange glow that seemed to have no defined origin. There were pews like in a church, and an altar, however there were no icons or symbols to signify what this church was to. It looked very different from outside, like it had been left alone by whatever had cursed this world.
Aesthre walked up the aisle to get a better look at the front. There were stained glass windows that had strange designs, like constellations or planets. As he approached the altar it occurred to him that it was not made of wood or stone, but some kind of metal. Before he could inspect further the whispering started on his left again and again a single word was distinguishable. Look. He looked to his left to see a door. Aesthre carefully walked over and peeked inside. It was another room, mysteriously lit like the main room, but was more like an office. He stepped in to see a desk covered in dust covered in odd fixtures, an empty cupboar
DAJ 11: Parasite
Now Aesthre had no weapon to defend himself with and the fiend was ready to make its move. It leapt at him with its jagged mandibles ready to dig into his flesh. Aesthre braced himself against the door, turned his head and prepared for the worst. His left hand naturally moved into the way of its face. He connected with it and expected it to slash him with its claws, and he winced before the blows landed. There was no pain, the attacks didnt come. He looked at his hand where he could feel the beast, and saw it writhing in pain. His left hand had gotten a hold of its throat with blood flowing forth. Aesthre threw it aside and it fell to the floor in a heap.
Aesthre looked at his hand covered in cloth and blood. It didnt hurt at all now, but that metallic feeling still remained. He untied the makeshift bandage to see what felt so odd. As the last wrap came off his curiosity turned to horror. His hand was now covered with chitinous armor the same crimson colors as the other thi
DAJ: 10 Dark Aid
Now that he could see farther, he could tell how many of them there were, and he didnt like the count. There were 30 or more. Aesthre started to run and the things kept up with him. They skittered in their oddly fast way, staying just a ways behind him. It was strange though, because there werent any directly behind him. They all stayed out of the path that the trees had made for him. Aesthre returned his gaze forward to see that he was getting much closer to the building. But there was going to be a problem when he got to it. The trees that were protecting him didnt completely reach the door. There were a few scattered trees, but once he got there, there was nothing to stop the beasts from following him in.
Aesthre started to sprint at maximum speed and now the things had trouble keeping up. He exited the protection of the trees and bolted straight towards the door. He met the door and swung it open, and at the same time looked behind him as the things closed in. The
five hour energyi suppose
last week was only an aftershock
of the earthquake you were before.
this place used to vibrate
with metal strings and melodic,
testimonies to life,
emitting coffee-scented moods

i couldn't help but relish it.
no longer had i known
the sounds of folk

i pressed my nose

and thinking fervently
i already know
